Why do I receive error code 25035 and what should I do?
You tried to open a project, and you received this error message:
"SqlCeException occurred (native error: 25035)."
What causes this issue and how can you solve it?
Stuck background process
Usually, this error message means that a previously running instance of memoQ is still active as a background process, even though the UI is already closed.
To solve the problem, restart the computer to close all the stuck processes in the background. Then open memoQ and the project again.
If you are an advanced Windows user, you can also open the Task Manager, and on the Details tab, find the memoQ process that is still running, right-click it, and then click "End task". This should do the same as restarting the computer.
Shared drives, folders or removable media
Storing project files on a shared network drive or folder can also cause this problem. memoQ cannot always access these files.
To solve the issue, store the project files on a local hard drive to avoid file sharing violations.
We do not recommend storing resources or projects on removable media or in shared network folders.
Using a Mac
If you are working with a Mac and memoQ is running on a Windows virtual machine, storing your projects on the MAC part of your computer (see the "\\MAC\HOME" path) can also cause this problem.
To solve the problem, change the project location to a Windows path on the C: drive (you can do this in the Options > Locations window for new projects)
If this is an existing project:
- Move the folder of the project to the C: drive
- In memoQ, open the project (when memoQ asks if you want to remove it from the list, click Yes)
- To open the project from the new location: click the memoQ ribbon tab. On the left, click Open project. Then click the Open project button.
Active protection - Anti-virus software
Certain anti-virus software and their active protection features can incorrectly detect problems in memoQ project files. If this happens, memoQ cannot access these files, and shows a "file sharing violation" error the next time you try to open them.
To solve the problem, we recommend white-listing the folder where you store your project files. You can do this differently in each productsoftware: see the support site of your anti-virus software.
Disable the active protection of your anti-virus software while you are working with these files. But that can cause security problems.
